Our Mission and Purpose
About SPCA
Kota Kinabalu
Who Are We?
SPCA Kota Kinabalu is a non profit organisation registered in Malaysia since 14 February 2006. It was formed by a group of animal lovers who came together to create a stronger and more effective effort in improving animal welfare.
Over the years, SPCA Kota Kinabalu has worked across multiple areas including neutering programmes, responsible adoption, public education, and advocacy for stronger enforcement against animal cruelty.
With the generous support of donors, a dedicated shelter was established in Papar in 2017, providing a safe space for animals in need and strengthening ongoing welfare efforts within the community.
Our Work
What We Do ?
We focus on long term solutions that reduce stray animal populations and improve animal welfare. Through targeted programmes and community efforts, we work to prevent suffering while providing care where it is most needed.
Neutering Programmes
We carry out neutering efforts to control population growth and prevent unnecessary suffering.
Rescue for Critical Cases
We respond to injured, abused, or life threatening cases that require urgent care.
Adoption and Rehoming
We help rescued animals to find responsible and loving homes. Make sure they are safe and secure.
Public Education and Awareness
We promote responsible pet ownership and community involvement to create lasting change.
Our Mission and How We Work
Our mission is to reduce stray animal populations and prevent unnecessary suffering by focusing on effective neutering programmes and responsible pet ownership. We believe long term solutions come from addressing the root cause of overpopulation, not just responding to its effects.
As a volunteer driven organisation supported by public contributions, we carry out our work through neutering initiatives, rescue for critical cases, and public education. With limited resources, we prioritise sustainable efforts that create lasting impact for both animals and the community.
